Friday Music Video: Summertime
For me, the definitive version of a song covered more times than a Senator’s gluteous maximus. Janis at her best…evoking at once both hope and a unique sense of loss that the other artists fail to catch.

Bow Thayer and Perfect Trainwreck performing ” RU Willin”. Bow is simply one of the best musicians I’ve ever heard, and a great guy. Check out his site at http://bowthayer.com/ You just have to love anyone that describes their musical style as “greasy” or “modern mountain”, right?
Not really a video…but certainly one of my favorite songs of all time. Note how it combines an optimistic theme with a strong blues undertone. In 35 years, I still hear something new every time.

The Great Bassist Jamaaladeen Tacuma live at the West Oak Lane Jazz festival in Philadelphia. Featured are Calvin Weston (Drums), Aram Bajakian (guitar), and Daud EL-Bakara (trumpet). Jamming on the jeff Bck tune “Freeway Jam.”
One of my personal favorites. Raw, powerful, with lyrics that exceed even that course guitar in their biting edge. From the live 1970 show at the Filmore East with Crazy Horse (Hint: you can stream the whole show on Wolfgang’s Vault).
Yeah, one of those weeks. So crank this puppy up and plan on regrouping over the weekend.
