Forget about parsing RSS feeds, etc.  The Anchorage Daily News has assigned David Hulen, reporter and editor to amass all the news an Alaskan (or Anchoragean) would want.  A similar experiment is underway in other locations as well.  Read about it at Etaoin Shrdlu.
